BIA means Business Improvement Area. The Bolton BIA is established by a bylaw of the Town of Caledon to improve and beautify the lands and buildings within the BIA area and to promote the area as a business and shopping district.
The BIA is run by a Board elected from among its members to serve during the same term as Caledon Council. The Board meets monthly on a Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. usually at Che's Place on Martha Street. Minutes and agendas are posted on the website.
Funding comes from a special levy on the taxes charged to commercial property owners and businesses in the downtown area.
The BIA arranges for seasonal decorations and runs summer events including the Farmers’ Market in downtown Bolton.
